If you are used with working with a knife sharpener system, you will love to have more versatility with the Edge Pro Apex 4 Knife Sharpener. This patented system can sharpen any blade shape or size, including serrated knives that require more maintenance that sharp edge blade knives. The water stones have been customized in a way to eliminate wavy edges and bumps and extend the life and performance of your knives. This system is pricey but it’s actually worth paying $255.00 for a knife sharpener system that works with all knives and it’s guaranteed to last for a lifetime.

Design

The Edge Pro Apex 4 Knife Sharpener is an intricate system that includes several components. The system includes the apex model edge pro sharpening device, a 120 grit coarse water stone, 220 grit medium fine water stone, 600 grit extra fine water stone, 1000 grit ultra fine water stone as well as 1 pack of 2000 grit polish tapes, 1 pack of 3000 grit polish tapes, 2 polish tape mounting blanks. You will also receive a 8″ 1200 grit ceramic hone, a micro-fiber towel, a water bottle, instructional DVD and the instruction manual. As you can already notice, the system is very complex because it features a variety of stones to allow you to sharpen your knives in the best way possible. Besides, all of these components come beautifully arranged in a black carrying case so you will manage to keep your stones and other things neatly organized.

Performance

According to customer reports, this system does a very good job at sharpening a variety of kitchen knives, including the knives with straight edge blades as well as the serrated knives, that are the hardest to sharpen and maintain. We like that you can adjust the sharpening angle from 10, 15, 18, 21, and 24 degrees. Sharpening the blade at a specific angle can make the blade thicker from removing material so you will want to re-profile your knife in order to get the best results. The water stones can be changed very fast with a simple twist of the knob. The Apex system creates a smooth and shiny surface without damaging the blade of the knife.

Ease of use

The best part about using the Edge Pro Apex 4 Knife Sharpener is actually setting up the system and using it. It sets up in just a matter of seconds but the key is to place it on a smooth surface, to ensure that you sharpen your knife safely and in an efficient manner. Note that you can sharpen any type of length of shape blade that’s up to 3.5″ wide. Regarding the maintenance part, you will want to saturate the stone with purified water that is mixed with a couple of drops of dish soap

Warranty and support

The customer service offered by the Edge Pro representatives is generally very helpful. You can directly contact any representative to get more information regarding their products. If you visit their official page, you can watch useful videos and tutorials on how to use their products. Regarding the warranty trial, you should keep in mind that EdgePro offers a 90-day money-back guarantee and a lifetime warranty on all parts excluding the polish tapes, suction cups, cuide clips, stones and the stone leveling kit.

  2. Thomas says:

This is a very expensive knife sharpener, but considering the fact that it offers superior results and it comes with a lifetime warranty, I think it’s a smart long-term investment.

  3. Samuel says:

Are manual knife sharpeners better than electric ones?

    • Maxwell Sheridan says:

Hello, Samuel. Both manual and electric sharpeners offer great results, but the electric ones are easier to use. At the same time, many people consider that manual sharpeners remove less metal than electric sharpeners and they are more versatile. Therefore, there is not an exact answer to your question, it only depends on what type of sharpener you prefer more.

  4. John says:
